An 11-year-old southern Illinois boy’s survival of an accident in which a tractor ran over his head is being described as nothing short of a miracle.
KFVS-TV reports that fifth-grader Dylan Singleterry of Vienna nearly died after Tuesday’s accident.
Relatives say the family was clearing a field of hay when they took a break for supper. That’s when the boy’s 10-year-old brother hopped onto the tractor to play but kicked it out of gear.
The family says the younger boy pushed Dylan from the tractor as the machine headed for a tree. But Dylan’s head was run over by a tractor tire weighing as much as 1,500 pounds.
Now, Dylan is talking but has some brain damage as he faces more therapy, as well as reconstructive surgery next month.
