My mother called me unlucky, says KBC winner

A 37-year-old woman who earns a living out of running a stitching centre in Jharkhand is the first ever person in season four and the first ever woman across all seasons of Kaun Banega Crorepati to win Rs 1 crore. It was a dream-come-true for Rahat Taslim to win such a huge amount. “I had come with huge expectations and good preparation for the show. I worked over my general knowledge and have always had a good hold on science and arts”, says the humble woman.

Rahat’s knowledge can be corroborated from the fact that she had two lifelines with her even when she reached the 1 crore question. Incidentally for the first woman to win the one crore amount onKBC, the question was also about a first woman – ‘Who was the first woman President of Africa?’ Rahat was confused between two options. “I used my phone-a-friend lifeline and called a chartered accountant friend expecting he would know the answer. Unfortunately he clearly said he had no clue. So I had to use my last lifeline double dip which won me the crore”, reveals Rahat about the climax moment of the show.

And did she opt for the five crore question? “Since I expended both my lifelines over the one-crore question, I did not want to take a risk and thought it made sense to quit”, says Rahat.

Coming from a modest background, Taslim says, “My mother always used to think I am very unlucky. But I am happy today that I brought back luck for my entire family. My family will now remember me for generations.”

Any how does she plan to spend the huge amount she has won? “To start with, I will repay all my loans and would like to give better education to my children. Then I would like to expand my stitching center into a boutique and do some charity as well”, signs off the winner who created history on KBC.
